Learning Revolutionaries Celebrate Together CEFET organised the celebration event for the WEA's Learning Revolutionaries event
Around 100 people, most of them project participants, celebrated the achievements of the Learning Revolutionaries’ project on Wednesday 24th March in Nottingham at the Indian Community Centre Association. We heard from some of the many volunteers who took part in the WEA’s Learning Revolutionaries training and also from people running learning circles about health issues, jewellery, felt crafts, Japanese paper art and many other areas of interest. Some of us took to the dance floor to learn some beguiling African dance and everyone enjoyed a tasty feast of Indian food and too many cakes!! DAIN, the Digital Activist Inclusion Network, is an exciting ESF funded volunteer project working across the East Midlands. DAIN aims to promote digital inclusion by encouraging people to use technology with the help of volunteers (Digital Activists). ESF Framework - This is the regional strategic document written to direct the use ofEuropean Social Funds (about £30m a year) in the region.The whole sector has refused to endorse the new ESF FRAMEWORK. CEFET has written to GOEM to express the – very serious – reasons for this. GOEM has issued a reply and CEFET made a response. You can read the text of the whole correspondence here.

How do community sports projects contribute to community integration?
CEFET is involved in trying to give a grass roots perspective to how community sports projects can contribute to community integration. What conditions help those projects come into being and become successful, and what sports bodies need to do to make it easier for participation in sport ?
Have you been involved with – or do you know of any – community projects which have involved sport in any way? If so can you get in touch or let us know contact details for the project – especially if it's still running. We're particularly interested in any that have specific integration, community unity or cohesion aspects to their work, either by design or as it turns out! Thanks.

East Midlands Social Inclusion Policy Forum
New regional Social Inclusion Policy Forum
CEFET are working with One East Midlands to build a cross-sector forum in the region to improve work to combat exclusion as we approach 2010, the European Year Against Poverty and Exclusion. We are organising meetings to facilitate the forum and include voices from grassroots. Here are details of the meetings in the region.

JOBMAETS
Part-funded by the European Social Fund, the Jobmaets programme, started in the region on 23rd June 2008. Its aim is to help people get into employment and the programme needs voluntary and community organisations to become involved to make it work. “A core principle of the programme is that specialist service providers (drugs, debt, health etc) and voluntary and community groups and organisations will work together to provide a seamless service to help disadvantaged customers into work.” Click here to get more details of Jobmaets, the lead providers, and how you can get involved.
